Screen Shot 2013-08-11 at 13.59.08Kayaker and Ocean rower Marin Medak recently got in touch about a new keyring that he’s made that’s shaped like a kayak. Made of PVC and stainless steel wire, they are  9cm x 1cm – 3.5″ x 0.4″. They have great attention to detail, with decklines and hatches.

You can check them out in his store here. Or we have 9 of them to give away to the next 9 people who buy 2 or more DVDs from our UK/ Europe / Australasia webstore.  Retailing at 6 Euros, it’s a great free gift for 9 lucky people!

So look at our selection of kayaking DVDs in the store – we have 15 different ones to chose from.

Thanks to Alan Drummond and Kingdom Outdoor Products, the US distributor of the Keyhob, we also have 5 of these unique keyrings to give away to the first 5 North American customers who order 2 or more DVDs from the Cackle TV Store. If that’s you – click HERE for the store.

Last weekend, the Irish edition of the Sunday Times published an article about unusual ways to travel around Ireland. I spoke to a journalist for half an hour about our kayaking circumnavigation around Ireland and he condensed all my waffling into a few lines for the story! Seems we aren’t the only ones getting out and about.

  • Risso’s Dolphins & Bardsey

    Rissos dolphin

On Sunday I combined a bit of a fitness paddle with one of my favourite locations. I took the slender Rapier for it’s second outing to Bardsey island. Setting off from Morfa Nefyn at a good pace on a flat blue sea, I vaguely noticed a wave gently breaking to one side of me — until something made me look closer. I noticed a gigantic fin protrude from the water – followed by another one, and then a third. It was a pod of at least 5 risso’s dolphins – the first ones I’ve seen. They came quite close and took a good look at me. Very cool indeed.

PiggyThe wind and tide helped me to Bardsey in just over 2 and a half  hours, and it wasn’t very rough in the sound so that was a bonus. Once there, I enjoyed catching up with the Porter family & met the latest addition to the island – Piggy!

Bardsey SoundA northerly wind had picked up during my few hours on the island so the way back was more of a slog, taking 3 and a half hours. It was also bumpier – with wind against tide. I arrived back at the beach about 7.30pm feeling pretty tired, but content! Here are the stats.
